The Oldland Players were delighted to perform again at The Bristol One Act Drama Festival, and The Avon One Act Drama Festival, this year with another pair of very different entries, "In the Mood" by Frank Gibbons and "Those were the Days" by Shari Gledhill

In the Mood:

Jeanie's little café is struggling to survive and a pending family problem could easily prove to be the last straw. Also, her apparent reluctance to tackle issues such as poor hygiene, inferior cooking, power supply malfunctions and a mischievous deaf cat isn't helping the situation.

Cast

Jeanie (Vikie Meachin); Richard (Ollie Cuenca); Sandy (Mani Chubb); Max (Rod Lovell); Eleanor (Ev Milker); Nell (Anna Vigor)

Gary (Nick Milker); Toasty man (Simon Crutchley); Customer (Carol Tavener)

Director: Kit Muffett

As noted above, having won the Bristol heat of the drama festival, 'These are the Days' went on to the Western Area finals, held at the Merlin Theatre, Frome on May 11th.

Unfortunately, because Steven was unavailable, Kevin Kirwan stepped in at short notice to take on the role of Matt. Although there were only two other awards available that day, as well as the overall winner, we were nominated for one of them; 'The Stanley and Madge Williams Shield at the Adjudicator’s Discretion'.
